In Umbria, the cultivation of the olive is among the oldest in Italy, given that the first to treat this fructiferous plant were the Etruscans. Extra virgin olive oil has become one of the main treasures of the Umbrian land and there is no place that is not characterized by the presence of the olive tree. The company located at the foot of the Marfuga hill, comes from an ancient family of farmers, testimonies such as a unit of sales measure, marked by the Papal States, found in the company warehouses, prove that since 1817, it had sold oil obtained from its own Olivets and that since the early 1900s, my great -grandfather Domenico already sent the precious nectar to families of northern Italy into glass bridesmaids, as evidenced by some transport documents of the railways, found in the family archives. The first development was thanks to the will of Ettore, who in the years of the agricultural crisis (around the 1950s/60s), while interpreting his banking career, was able to, with stubbornness and sacrifices, acquires new olive groves over the years and in 1976 , make a new mill. The entry into the company of Francesco, son of Ettore and his wife Federica, in the 90s ults coincided with the creation of the Marfuga brand and with the construction of the new company center. The productive quality has paid an incisive commercial policy oriented towards qualified catering, to the most important Italian gastronomic realities and from all over the world. Currently Marfuga is not only production of excellence oil, but it is a wider project, aimed at enhancing the territory and the cultural dissemination of the world of oil.
